Monday Musings and Addictions

Happy Monday and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!!

March, 2011

Kinda stinks it’s a Monday this year, but in honor of my Irish peeps here are some of my favorite pictures from my family’s trip to Ireland in 2011 (my kids met all my family there, including my dad’s brother who lives on the farm my dad grew up on):

So I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It was Micheal’s 12th birthday here on Friday, so we celebrated all weekend. But in between celebrations I found a new addiction. Thanks to Linda, at Calling it Home, I spent a good part of my weekend designing a tropical, coastal home and tried my darnedest to win $500 to One Kings Lane. It really is so easy to use Polyvore and it is a great tool to curate your favorite interior and fashion items into rooms and outfits.  So I decided to build each room using only items for sale at One Kings Lane, since that is where I will be spending my winnings. 🙂

Here are my rooms:
Living Room

Dining Room

Master Bedroom

Boys Room

and finally the Girls Room

So I guess Tropical Coastal Decor, for me, means tons of earth colors and textures: greens, bamboo, natural fiber rugs, wood, blues, rattan, oranges and reds.  Also tons of pattern and nature in fabrics and artwork.  The teen girls room (of course with pink) and the family room have more of a coastal than the tropical feel with pops of turquoise.

You can see all the details at my Polyvore account and if you want to feed the addiction and keep the fun going, join me as I start making sets for a new contest Jennifer from The Pink Pagoda is hosting this week.  The theme is “Art-filled and Feminine” and you can win $500 to Horchow…ummm okay!!

And, last but not least, I wanted to tell all my local folk about an awesome new store that opened on Friday in Midland Park.  I stopped in on opening day at Town Home & Garden and it did not disappoint!  Opened by a fellow Ridgewood mom, it is a beautifully-curated mix of vintage furniture, lighting and accessories.  She also plans to carry new gift items as well.  Here are a couple of pictures I snapped with my phone:

I’m definitely adding Town Home & Garden to my rounds.

Have a great week everyone and thanks for stopping by! – kate

  1. Love the Ireland trip pics! It is definitely on my bucket list, particularly since my husband is half Irish. Linda’s Tropical Coastal contest was such fun, and now I am so excited for Jennifer’s! I look forward to following you along. 🙂 Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
